Welcome to another issue of Sunny Side Scribbles 🍳

Hi friends! Since we've last touched base, I've went on my first solo adventure where I met 11 new strangers on the other side of the world, and now have become life long friends. One of these sweet people live near me! We met for coffee yesterday and like always, I left our conversation with a lot of food for thought. She inspired me to bring a project I've been thinking about for quite some time into fruition.

During the final years of my grandfathers life we wrote letters to each other about how he grew up and the places and people that contribute to the kind of person he became. I collected each of these letters and turned it into a memoir, which has now become one of my family's most prized possessions. I thought about how special it is to have a labor of your love, a token of all that you are that be out in the world in a physical form. I thought about if I were to die tomorrow, a book like this would be a small piece of my heart I would like to leave for my friends, family and strangers if they ever may be curious about the way I existed in the world.

I've been thinking about what kind of book I would like to write, and if I even have the mental capacity to write one. I know this won't be a traditional book with hundreds of pages that a publisher would need to "correct." I want this to be a whimsical, easily digestible, creative book, a book people can pick up on a coffee table and enjoy looking at all the beautiful photos.

I’m writing this as I approach 27, I thought about creating a book of lessons, but you probably have enough people telling you what to do. But I do like the number 7, and I thought I would like to share 7 of my favorite places, my little ‘heavens’ if you will. I thought about sharing places that aren’t particularly physical locations, but rather places that exist in the spaces between people or in the quiet corners of our own hearts.

I love travel books - but don’t necessarily feel I’ve been to enough places or documented the moments I am most proud of. I would like to consider myself a soft traveler, I have a general itinerary in mind but secretly hope it gets interrupted by the bud of a new friendship.

I love writing blogs and my newsletter - but I want to include more pictures and recipes and more visual anchors of what I deem important at this stage in my life.I would like to write an autobiography or memoir - but truthfully, I don’t think you could ever love the people in my life as much as I do. My hope is that between these pages it inspires you to love your friends a little deeper, forgive a bit softer and laugh a little louder.

What kind of book would this be then? - This would be a love letter specifically dedicated to you, where ever you might be.

I turn 27 on October 26. If you have any ideas or would like to offer your help in anyway, I would love to hear from you! Until then, I'll keep you updated.

With finger guns,

Jrnie
